Denniston man arrested
SoVaNow.com / February 18, 2013A 23 year old Denniston man was arrested on Saturday afternoon after calling the 911 center in Halifax and telling a dispatcher there that he would shoot any officer who came along his road.
Mickey Allen Anderson Jr. of German Creek Road was arrested without incident after deputies responded to the call. He was charged with public drunkenness.
According to Sheriff Fred Clark, Anderson did not have a weapon in his possession when he was arrested, although a gun was found in a nearby wooded area.
A report also came in indicating that he was driving a stolen vehicle, which was not true, although a truck belonging to one of his friends was found stuck in a ditch nearby.
The episode caused quite a stir in the community, Clark said, but ended without serious incident. “It was just a matter of his having drunk too much alcohol,” Clark said.
In other reports from the Sheriff’s Office, a 38 year old woman, Joynita Sydnor, was arrested on Friday and charged with the malicious wounding of a male companion at the American Best Value Inn, located at 2050 Philpott Road.
The victim, according to Clark, suffered cuts on his arm and hand.
The woman is being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Halifax without bond.
