Driver cited for DUI in Saturday crash

SoVaNow.com / October 17, 2013
A 34 year old South Boston driver, Danny L. Perkins, was charged with driving under the influence in a single vehicle crash Saturday.

The mishap occurred at 9:24 p.m. on Route 501, about one-tenth mile north of its intersection with State Route 638.

The 1988 Ford Ranger operated by Perkins ran off the right side of the roadway, striking a guard rail. The vehicle then rolled over onto its passenger side.

Perkins was not injured, but a passenger in his vehicle, 51 year old Larry W. Beadles, was transported and treated for minor injuries.

According to a report filed by investigating Virginia State Trooper J. R. Abbott, damages to the Ranger were estimated at $1,500.
