Driver uninjured as car hits bridge / May 13, 2020
The driver in a single car crash near Chase City escaped unharmed after the vehicle was impaled on a bridge on Orgainsville Road.

Cherie Scarcelli, 57 of Skipwith was traveling on Route 640, Orgainsville Road, West of Highway 49 around 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 5 when the 2013 Toyota Sienna she was driving ran off the road to the left and struck a bridge.

The impact drove the railing through the engine of the SUV and was what kept the vehicle from tumbling into the creek below. Responders were able to safely remove Scarcelli from the vehicle once it was stabilized.

She sustained only minor injuries but was transported to an area hospital to be checked for additional injuries.

Trooper J.R. Pelletier, who worked the accident scene said the driver is being changed with failure to maintain proper control.
