Earth Day Extravaganza is a ‘go,’ but check updates

SoVaNow.com / April 20, 2017

Planners for this year’s Earth Day Extravaganza in the Town of Halifax are keeping an eye on the sky — and the weather radar — as the Saturday event draws near. Intermittent rain certainly won’t cause a cancellation, but thunderstorms (currently in the forecast late in the day following the event) would be a different matter.

The Town of Halifax is asking visitors to continue making plans to attend the event, but to keep a lookout on the Earth Day Extravaganza Facebook page for the very latest updates, especially the morning of the event. http://www.facebook.com/HalifaxEarthDay/.

The Halifax Earth Day celebration is Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Farmer’s Market on Main Street. The event brings together organizations to educate the community on ways to care for the planet. There will be exhibits, games for the youngsters and a scavenger hunt for participants to bring and find recyclable items. Prizes will be awarded for recycling as well as for several other activities.
