Easter church services get early start
SoVaNow.com / March 28, 2013Churches throughout Halifax County will host special sunrise services Sunday in celebration of Easter. A joint Easter Sunrise service has been planned for 7 a.m. at the Prayer Garden on North Main Street in South Boston, between First Baptist and Main Street United Methodist churches.
Other churches planning 7 o’clock services are Trinity Baptist Church and Peaceful Tabernacle Church. Also, New St. Luke Apostle Church and Hickory Grove churches will be holding their special services at 7 a.m.
Bethel Baptist Church will co-host a sunrise service with Winn’s Creek Baptist at 7 a.m., and Oak Level Presbyterians and Mt. Vernon Baptist will hold a joint service also at 7 a.m.
Shady Grove United Methodist will have its annual sunrise service at 6:30 a.m., followed by a casserole breakfast, and Pleasant Grove will have its service at the same time with breakfast to follow.
Millstone Baptist and Hickory Grove also have a 6:30 a.m. joint service at Millstone.
Several churches have scheduled 6 a.m. services including County Line Missionary Baptist Church, Greater Brandon Missionary Baptist Church, Berry Hill Baptist, Mt. Pleasant CME jointly with Wesley Chapel CME, Banister Hill Baptist with breakfast to follow, New Life Baptist and Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist. Blue Wing Grove Baptist Church also has a 6 a.m. service with breakfast to follow.
The earliest sunrise service is set for Mt. Carmel Baptist Church beginning at 5 a.m.
