Enrollment climbs to 5,641; some still missing / August 26, 2010
Halifax County Schools are continuing to pick up enrollment as the number of students at school on Wednesday reached 5,616. The school administration bases its budget projections for state funding on an enrollment of 5,641. Over the past week, schools have picked up an additional 66 students, but administrators believe there are others who still have not enrolled.

Deputy School Superintendent Larry Clark expressed concern about the fact that students are still not showing up for classes. “It is terribly difficult to keep up with the daily assignments while trying to make up for what has been missed,” said Clark. “Our instructional programs have been on-going for nearly two weeks now and it’s hard for students to catch up.

His message is simple:

“If there is an issue that is keeping students from school, then parents need to let us know what it is. We can work with them and hopefully resolve the problem if we know what it is,” Clark said.
