FAST ACTION TO EXTRACT OCCUPANT

South Boston News
Around 11:28 a.m. Tuesday, South Hill and La Crosse volunteer firefighters, the Southside Rescue Squad and Virginia State Police were dispatched to the 12B off-ramp on Interstate 85 to respond to an overturned box truck with one occupant of the vehicle still trapped inside. Units arrived on scene and immediately began working to extricate the person from the vehicle. Responders were able to successfully deliver care, calling in Duke Life Flight to transport the patient for treatment at a major medical center. South Hill Volunteer Fire Company 7 issued special thanks to assisting departments as well as Fred’s Towing, which removed the wreckage and allowed I-85 to quickly reopen. (SHVFD contributed photo)
