Firearms, property seized; pair arrested in Vernon Hill area

A search of a Vernon Hill residence early Thursday morning resulted in the arrest of two county residents and the seizure of numerous firearms, a large quantity of suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia, knives, swords, electronics and old silver and paper currency, all suspected to have been stolen in recent county break-ins.

According to Halifax County Sheriff Fred S. Clark, 38-year-old Jamie Allen Seamster of Ridge Road in Vernon Hill and 39-year-old Chris Daniel Anderson of Newton Farm Road in South Boston were arrested and charged with possessing stolen property.

“More charges will be forthcoming,” Clark said.

Acting on information gathered in an investigation of a recent break-in and burglary of a residence on Bill Tuck Highway, Clark said investigators and deputies obtained enough evidence to secure a search warrant for Seamster’s residence at 2011 Ridge Road in Vernon Hill.

Clark said both Seamster and Anderson were inside the house when officers executed the search warrant, and the pair was arrested without incident.

The search yielded numerous commemorative firearms, suspected marijuana and suspected cocaine, drug scales, pipes, bongs, a large quantity of old silver coins and paper currency, numerous electronics and collectables, all believed to have been stolen in recent area break-ins.

Executing the search warrant Thursday morning were Investigators Sam Edmonds and Jeff Burton, Capt. Mike Womack, Deputy Tyler H. Clarke and Cpl. T. A. Mocarsky with assistance from the Regional Drug and Gang Task Force.
