Four arrested on drug charges

Four people were arrested last week on drug charges by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Casey James Bowes, 33 of McGhees Hill Road, Semora was arrested June 29, by Deputy J. L. Franco after a traffic stop on a vehicle Bowes was operating for a traffic violation.

During the traffic stop it was found that Bowes was in possession of illegal substances.

Deputies seized suspected methamphetamine, suspected heroin, suspected marijuana, suspected schedule III controlled substances, suspected drug paraphernalia and U.S. currency. Bowes was arrested and transported to Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority.

Bowes was charged with possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, possession of a schedule III controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstruction of justice and two counts of forging a public document.

Bowes was held without bail.

On June 30, Joseph Patrick Brandon, 36 of Memorial Drive, Nichole Dawn Totherow, 27 of Lennig Road and Hanna Marie Francis, 23 of Sinai Road were arrested by Franco.

On June 30, deputies were at the Budget Inn on Philpott Road investigating a complaint when they became aware of possible drug activity in one of the rooms.

Deputies were able to make contact with the subjects in the room and seized suspected cocaine, suspected methamphetamine, suspected marijuana and suspected drug paraphernalia. Brandon, Totherow and Francis were arrested and transported to Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority.

Brandon was charged with possession of a schedule I or II controlled substance, possession of marijuana and served a warrant for contempt of court. Brandon was released on a $4,000 secured bond.

Totherow was charged with two counts of possession of a schedule I or II controlled substance and possession of marijuana. Totherow was released on a $2,500 secured bond.

Francis was charged with possession of a schedule I or II controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. Francis was held without bail.
