Friday crash claims life of South Boston man / June 11, 2018

A 23-year-old South Boston man died in an early Friday morning crash on U.S. 360 east of town.

Armante Meray Wyatt was the driver of a 1997 Toyota Camry traveling east when the crash occurred around 1:57 a.m. The vehicle ran off the left side of U.S. 360 into the median strip, went 100 feet and struck a tree on the driver’s side.

The crash scene was a short distance east of the intersection of U.S. 360 and Bellevue Road.

Wyatt was rushed to Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital for treatment and died there from his injuries.

He was an employee of Pacific Headwear.

There were no other occupants of the vehicle. The crash is being investigated by Trooper G.C. Goad.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, June 12 at 1 p.m. at Jeter Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Antori Brown presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Wyatt is survived by his parents, Joanne King and Rodney Murray Wyatt; Tiara Lacks of Clover; two daughters, Kaliyah and Kalana Wyatt; a brother, Jha-man King of South Boston; grandparents, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and devoted friends.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Monday from noon-8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
