Going back to work

South Boston News
Virginia Homes Building Systems reopened Monday morning in Boydton with original and current owner R. T. “Tommy” Arnold (right) on hand to greet each of the 18 employees expected to punch in at the time clock this week. Arnold and Bill Hamblen (center), who has been with the company since 1970, welcomed Joshua Andrews, who started work at Virginia Homes in 2017. On Monday, Andrews clocked in for the first day back since Arnold recently reclaimed the business he started 50 years ago. Virginia Homes Building Systems will focus on small modular housing designs that are affordable for young married or older retired couples. They will be adding employees (up to 35) in the next few months and possibly more in the future. Arnold offered a show of support on the first day back for newly-rehired employees.
