Grand jury issues indictments against 12 suspects

A Mecklenburg County grand jury handed down indictments against 12 individuals on Feb. 18, including five suspects facing drug-related charges.

Indictments are not findings of guilt, but rather a determination that sufficient evidence exists to bring cases to trial.

Donovan Tyrell Mosely of Chase City was charged with one felony count of possession of a Schedule I or II drug and one felony count for possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance. He was also charged with one misdemeanor count for possession with intent to distribute less than half-ounce of marijuana.

Jahlik Marquis Donavan of New York City was charged with one felony count for possession with intent to distribute between half-ounce and five pounds of marijuana

Gahrul Supreme Reed of Greensboro, N.C. was charged with one felony count for possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance, namely hashish oil.

Christopher Wayne Thomas of Baskerville was charged with one felony count for possession of heroin, a Schedule I or II controlled substance.

Tyrell Joseph Hite Jr. of Brodnax was charged with one felony count for possession of cocaine, a Schedule I or II controlled substance.

Deondre Taymonde Myers of Durham, N.C. was charged with one felony count of credit card forgery and one felony count of credit card theft. In a related incident, Chaz Corea Myers, also of Durham, N.C., was charged with one felony count of credit card theft. Corea Myers was also charged in a separate incident with a felony count of credit card forgery and a felony count for conspiracy to commit credit card fraud.

Roddick Eugene Spencer of Skipwith was charged with one felony count of strangulation resulting in wounds or injuries.

William Donald Bottoms of Virgilina was charged with one felony count of breaking and entering to commit assault and battery.

Daquante Rocquan Jefferson of Boydton was charged with felony eluding and a separate felony count for failing to report an accident involving an injury.

Danny Merle Smith of Chase City was charged with one felony count for assault of a police officer.

Michael Leon Jefferson of Chase City was charged with one felony count for petit larceny, this being a third or subsequent substantially similar offense.
