Halifax Council convenes Tuesday

SoVaNow.com / June 08, 2020
Halifax Town Council will hold its monthly committee work session and June meeting on Tuesday starting at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

On the committee agenda are a number of recurring items: the status of proposed crosswalks for Main Street, the War Memorial/downtown streetscape enhancement project, and a report on the status of the Halifax hydroelectric dam on Banister Lake.

The regular Council meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. following the committee work session, will include a public hearing on a proposed lease to local businessman Vinny Ruotolo-Sarnataro, who wants to open an Italian restaurant in a portion of the Halifax Farmers Market building.

Council members also will hold a first reading of the town’s 2020-21 fiscal year budget, which goes into effect July 1.

The June Council meeting and committee work sessions are open to the public.
