Halifax Count supervisors renew budget discussions

SoVaNow.com / February 17, 2014
Members of the Halifax Count Board of Supervisors finance committee are scheduled to meet Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 3 p.m. in the Conference Room of the County Administration Building, located at 134 South Main Street, Halifax.

The three member panel consisting of chairman Doug Bowman and members J. T. Davis and Larry Giardano is expected to be joined by other Supervisors as they review the budget requests of the departments and agencies which were turned in to the county staff on Jan. 15.

Following this meeting the administrative staff is expected to present a recommended draft budget to the full board at its March 3 regular monthly meeting. At an earlier January meeting of the finance committee, several contracts were recommended for work on the relocation of various agencies as Courthouse renovation begins. Those recommendations, along with a proposal to increase the amount of a $2 million loan to cover the cost of the work to $2.7 million, were approved by the full Board in January.
