Halifax County trustees convene tonight / July 10, 2017
The Halifax County School Board will convene in Halifax tonight for its regular monthly meeting, the first with new superintendent of schools Mark Lineburg at the helm.

The trustees have a light agenda going into the meeting, which will take place in the second floor public meeting room of the Bethune Office Complex starting at 6 p.m. The public portion of the meeting will be preceded by a closed session for trustees to go over personnel matters.

Among the items on the agenda are a presentation on summer school activities in the county and a discussion on the use of school facilities by members of the public. Assistant superintendent Valdivia Hall will give an update on changes in policy by the Virginia School Board Association.

On Tuesday, trustees and administrators will be in Lynchburg for the annual school board retreat. That meeting is scheduled from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and will include discussions on school facilities, the 2018-2019 school budget and possible changes in the curriculum and course of studies for Halifax County Public Schools.

The retreat, which is open to the public, will be held at the Burton Student Center, West Room, at Lynchburg College.
