Halifax County trustees to consider makeup days

SoVaNow.com / February 10, 2014
The Halifax County School Board meets this evening in the second floor meeting room of the Mary Bethune Complex beginning at 6 p.m.

With students having missed eight days of school due to inclement weather so far this year, Linda Owen, supervisor of elementary education is expected to present a suggestion for school calendar makeup days.

• Also Maintenance Director Larry Roller is expected to seek permission from the board to hold a sale of surplus items owned by the schools.

• Finance Director Jay Camp will present trustees with a proposal to allow for the deduction of YMCA dues from school employees payroll checks.

• Superintendent of Schools Dr. Merle Herndon will bring a discussion of professionally managed food service to the board and also suggest a bus shop fuel tank upgrade.

The Board had no signups for citizen comment when the agenda was sent out.

Trustees will go into closed session following the open meeting to discuss personnel and legal consultations.
