Halifax hosts hearing on amended town budget / April 23, 2018
Halifax Town Council will hold a special call meeting on Wednesday, April 25 at 6 p.m. in Town Hall to host a public hearing on the Town’s amended FY2017-2018 budget.

The amended budget includes funding from several grants which the Town received during the year, causing the overall size of the budget to grow by 18.69 percent. State law mandates that any spending increase of more than one percent in the approved budget requires the town to enact a revised budget.

Town Council is also expected to confirm Kelly Phillips and George Leonard to fill the expired terms of Dexter Gilliam and Stewart Nelson on the Halifax County Services Authority’s board of directors.

Council is also expected to have its personnel committee continue its employee annual evaluation of Town Manager Carl Espy and to make a recommendation on his renewed contract to the finance committee.
