Halifax hosts public hearing on bond issue

SoVaNow.com / March 24, 2014
Halifax Town Council will have a specially called meeting this Wednesday at 7 p.m. The purpose of the special meeting is to host a public hearing on a proposed ordinance which authorizes the issuance of a taxable general obligation bond of the Town of Halifax in the estimated amount of $675,000.

The money will finance construction costs of the Banister River Gateway Project as the work proceeds and will then be repaid from grant funding awarded to the Town by the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The meeting is expected to be very short since Council is expected to take no other action than to approve the general obligation bond after public comment has been submitted.
