Halifax man hospitalized after high-speed chase ends in crash

SoVaNow.com / February 13, 2017
A Halifax man required hospital treatment for serious injuries after he crashed a Toyota sedan on Friday while trying to elude local police, according to a Virginia State Police report.

Shaqwan Jarrell Richardson, 20, of Carr Lane in Halifax was charged with reckless driving after the vehicle he was operating ran off James D. Hagood Highway (Route 360) to the left, crossed both the median strip and the opposite lanes of the highway, and overturned after leaving the roadway.

The wreck took place just after midnight Friday near the intersection of Route 360 with Dan River Church Road. State Police estimated the sedan was going 85 mph just before the crash.

The owner of the 2006 Toyota Corolla is listed as W.D. McClean of Carr Lane. The vehicle sustained $2,000 in damages.
