Halifax Town Council meets Tuesday with limits in place / April 20, 2020

Halifax Town Council will hold its April monthly meeting on Tuesday night with measures in place to ensure social distancing and a limited number of people in the room at a time.

The meeting is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. with the committee work session, followed by the regular meeting of Council at 7 p.m.

Among the topics for discussion at the work session are an update on a request to VDOT for more crosswalks on Main Street, and the postponement of the town’s Spring Bazaar and Earth Day extravaganza due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The town will hold limited activities for Earth Day Saturday, April 25.

At the regular meeting of Council, members will be asked to adopt an continuity-of-government emergency ordinance to allow for the ongoing operations of town departments in case the pandemic makes person-to-person meetings impossible.

The public is invited to attend the meeting, subject to limitations on the number of people in the audience.
