Halifax woman injured in wreck / June 15, 2017

A 45 year old Halifax resident, Adrienne Logan, suffered injuries when her 2008 Honda Accord was struck as she attempted to turn into a private driveway off Mountain Road just east of its intersection with Swain Road on Friday, June 9 at 7:15 p.m.

Logan, who was transported for medical treatment of her injuries, was charged by investigating Virginia State Trooper G.L. Goad with failure to yield the right of way.

Her vehicle was struck by a 2001 Dodge Ram pick-up operated by 73 year old J. T. Epps of Halifax.

A passenger in the truck, Teresa Barnett, 46, suffered minor injuries and was also transported for medical attention. Epps was not injured.

Goad estimated damages to the Honda at $4,000 while the truck had an estimated $600 in damages.

Earlier, Trooper J. R. Wilmouth placed no charges in a single vehicle crash which Thursday, June 8 at 11:47 a.m. on US 360 about one-half mile west of its intersection with State 92.

Charles Mathu of Kennesaw, Ga., was the operator of a GMC SUV Savanna when he swerved to miss debris in the roadway and went off the right side and overturned. Wilmouth estimated damages to the SUV at $6,000 and Mathu was not injured.

On Wednesday, June 7, at 12:40 p.m. Herman Burch Jr., 63, of Charlotte Courthouse was charged with failure to maintain control of the 2004 International tractor trailer he was operating on Route 626 about three-tenths mile south of its intersection with State Route 621.

The truck ran off the right side of the roadway into a ditch, overturning. Burch suffered minor injuries. Investigating Virginia State Trooper W. R. Wooding estimated damages to the tractor trailer at $25,000.
