Harvest Fest returns to downtown this Saturday / September 27, 2012
South Boston’s annual Downtown Harvest Festival takes place this Saturday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Main and North Main Streets will be the focus of Saturday’s daytime activities with arts and crafts along the street, entertainment, and food around the corner, including Cinn-sational cinnamon rolls at Constitution Square.

Other activities include balloon sculpting by Skedaddle, juggling, magic shows, face painting, pumpkin painting, pony rides, and much more.

The HCHS JROTC will be back once again helping children make their own scarecrows. Straw and old clothes will be available at the grassy space next to Carter Bank and Trust from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will cost $5 if you provide your own clothes, $8 if you don’t.

What could be more fun than painting pumpkins in the fall? Come and join in the family fun and create your very own special pumpkins. There are two locations at two different times. The events will be held at the Farmers Market from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and in Constitution Square from 2 - 4 p.m.

On the Family Entertainment Stage located in Constitution Square will be Chaz the Magician at 10 and 4 with sleight of hand tricks, mindreading feats and small-scale illusions; “Just Paul” will perform at 11 and 2 p.m. Paul Miller is a one-man show: comedian, magician, and an amazing juggler with a lot of audience participation, and hilarious improvisation. Moving Voices The Isadora Duncan Cultural Exchange, Inc. will perform at noon, We’ve Got Rhythm Dance Academy will perform at 1 p.m. and The Essence of Movement Dance Studio will perform at 3 p.m.

Entertaining the crowds on Charles Street on Stage 2 will be The Barnyard Pimps, Chase Bowes and Friends, The Satterfields, Trevor Smith, and Kermit Wright and The Good Time Band.

There will be homegrown goodies at The Downtown Farmers Market, 300 Broad Street, open at 7:30 am. There will be a bounce house for the children to enjoy on Seymour Drive and the Head Over Heels Cheer Team will perform at 2 pm.

Tinkers Car Club Fall Cruz-In will be held in the Southern VA Higher Education Center parking lot starting at 9 a.m.

Lots of fun for the entire family! Come enjoy the day! For more information, call (434) 575-4208 or visit
