HCCA Walk for Hope Saturday

Make plans to join Halifax County Cancer Association on Saturday at the Halifax County Fairgrounds as we gather to honor and remember the cancer patients of Halifax County. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with opening ceremonies at 9 a.m. and survivors will begin the walk at 9:15 a.m. The day will be filled with testimonials by cancer patients and care givers, music, dance demonstrations, and much more.

At 1 p.m. there will be a balloon release to honor and remember patients. Attendees can purchase a balloon for $1.

HCCA will be selling pinwheel flowers for $5. Purchase a flower in honor or memory of a patient. A “Garden of Hope” will be on the lawn of Beth Car Baptist Church in Halifax Sept. 16 – Oct. 2.

The Mega Lung will be available for participant’s to walk through and see a healthy lung as well as a lung that is in different stages of disease.

Support a family member, friend and/or a loved one battling cancer that lives in Halifax County by forming a team (no team is too large, could be your school, church, neighborhood, work place, etc.) Raise as much as you can and half of everything you and or your “Team” raises will be used to assist your chosen recipient with their cancer related medical bills, mortgage, rent, electric, water, heating or oil bill in the patients or legal guardian’s name.

Children’s activities will include train ride, face painting, temporary tattoos and bounce house. For a donation of $5 a child can participate in these activities all day.

Bring a lawn chair, enjoy the music, food and fun and support the cancer patients of Halifax County.
