Not a prom but a spectacle with no social boundaries or decorum whatsoever and requiring police presence. By the time the parade, was there even time too dance?

Not so sure the police presence was "required" so much as the cops just insinuated themselves into it- and undoubtedly with full knowledge and cooperation of school administration, though the kids were probably blindsided. Gotta make sure these kids know who's boss, right?
