Halifax County High School placed on lockdown after social media threat surfaces

SoVaNow.com / December 08, 2017

Shortly before noon on Friday, the South Boston Police Department was notified about the possible existence of a social media video indicating a student at the Halifax County High School was in possession of a handgun.

Officers immediately contacted the high school administration staff and the school was placed on lockdown. School staff and police quickly located a student who was in possession of a pellet gun that was very similar in appearance to that of a semi-automatic handgun.

The pellet gun found by police is believed to be the one referred to on social media. Shortly after the pellet gun it was located, the school went back to its normal schedule. The police department is continuing its investigation into this matter.
