Italian restaurant eyed for Halifax Farmers Market / May 28, 2020
Local restaurateur Viny Sarnataro is proposing to open a new Italian restaurant in the Town of Halifax, inside the Halifax Farmers Market building.

Members of Halifax Town Council met in closed executive session Wednesday to discuss the proposal, before emerging to hold a vote on setting a June 9 public hearing on the plan, to coincide with the regular monthly meeting of Council.

Sarnataro has approached the town with an offer to lease 2,500 square feet on the left side of the Farmers Market building. The Italian restaurant will seat approximately 50 patrons and have additional outdoor seating.

“This is great news,” said Sarnataro after hearing of the Council approval of the June 9 public hearing. Although he’s still coming up with a name for the new restaurant, Sarnataro said he plans to offer a menu of pasta dinners, subs, and salads.
