Jiffy Store on Wilborn hit by armed robber

SoVaNow.com / February 16, 2017
On Monday, at 9:12 p.m. South Boston police officers were dispatched to the Jiffy Store at 1537 Wilborn Avenue to investigate an armed robbery.

Witnesses told officers that a light skinned male subject entered the store displaying a firearm and demanded money. The suspect then fled on foot in a southerly direction on Wilborn Avenue, taking an undisclosed amount of cash with him.

The suspect is described by witnesses as being approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, of slender build, wearing a dark colored hoodie with a white mask covering his face, dark blue jeans and white sneakers.

Units from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office assisted and responded with a K-9 tracking dog to aid in the search.

Anyone having any information regarding this crime is asked to contact Detective Randy Redd at the South Boston Police Department at 434-575-7273 or Halifax County Crime Line at 434-476-8445. Redd said officers will be following up on all information they receive.
