Lakefest Idol competition returns
SoVaNow.com / March 27, 2013The Clarksville Chamber of Commerce and Clarksville Community Players are bringing back the Lakefest Idol competition in 2013 after the fundraising event enjoyed a successful debut at last year’s Virginia Lake Festival.
Loosely based on the Fox reality show “American Idol, the CCP/Clarksville Chamber event features a panel of judges, auditions and finals as vocalists around the area vie for the honor of singing at Lakefest opening ceremonies on the night of July 19.
Auditions are open to individual singers or singing groups ages 8 and older. An entry fee of $20 per singer and $25 per group act will give contestants the chance to perform before a panel of three area judges — who first will have the job of selecting a Top 10.
Those who advance to the Top 10 will be called back later to perform in front of a live audience, which will vote for their favorite singer. The second winner will be crowned this year’s Lakefest Idol.
So get your vocal cords ready and come be a part of the fun!
Every act must be available to audition on June 7 or 8 at 7:00 p.m. and possibly perform if called back on June 14. Dates are subject to change depending on how many total applicants enter. Top 10 Acts must be able to rehearse June 28 at 6:00 p.m. and perform June 29 at 7:00 p.m. and winner must be available July 19 at 6:45 p.m.
