Let’s go relay

South Boston News
The 2018 Mecklenburg County Relay for Life was held Saturday night at Centennial Park in South Hill, with participants raising money for the American Cancer Society. Walkers took part in the Relay lap, cancer survivors took center stage, and guests enjoyed a free concert by Whiskey Revival and witnessed a luminaria ceremony to remember those lost to cancer. Scott Rogers served as the honorary chairperson for this year’s Relay. Rogers, owner-proprietor of South Hill’s Horseshoe Restaurant, gave a brief update on his battle with kidney cancer as well as a brain tumor that sidelined him for several months. Thanking God, his doctors and providers and family and friends, Roger said he is back from his battle with cancer, doing what he loves. (Lisa Clary photo) / June 13, 2018
