Library board meets Tuesday
SoVaNow.com / February 10, 2014Trustees of the Halifax County South Boston Library will meet Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the South Boston Library.
They will hear reports from the library director Jay Stephens and South Boston branch manager Chris Thompson.
Under new business, the board will seek approval of their budget requests to both the Towns of South Boston and Halifax, while discussing the outlook for their total FY-2015 budget including county and state contributions.
Members will also hear a presentation of a draft of updated circulation policies and request approval of a purge of the library patron database. .
Another request will be made of the board to allow for the sale of library tote bags.
Trustees are also expected to discuss the possibility of joining into a regional library system with Campbell County which was suggested last fall by state library officials. Regionalism means more state support for local libraries.
Trustees will also address policies for the use of library telephones, as well as possible art displays.
