Man taken to ER with gunshot injuries / December 06, 2018

Police are seeking information on a Tuesday night shooting in South Boston after a 26-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, sending him to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Around 7:45 p.m., a call came into the Halifax County E911 Center reporting that shots had been fired in the area of Jeffress Boulevard and Broad Street. Shortly after that call came in, officers received another dispatch to go to the Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital emergency department, where they found a 26-year-old Halifax man who had suffered a gunshot wound.

South Boston Police and Halifax County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the scene at the 1600 block of Jeffress Boulevard after determining from the two calls that gunshots had been fired in the vicinity, near the intersection of Jeffress and Broad.

Numerous items of evidence were collected at the scene that will be sent to the Department of Forensic Science in Richmond for analysis, according to the SBPD.

Anyone with any information regarding the shooting is asked to call the South Boston Police Department at 434-575-4271 or the Halifax County Crime Line 434-476-8477. Persons providing information that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward.
