Murder charges have been filed in case of missing Halifax woman

South Boston News
Wendy Dawn Beadles Francis / July 14, 2014
A Campbell County grand jury today indicted Jeffrey Wright, 52, with murder, second-degree murder, and illegal disposal of a body in the case of missing woman from Halifax County, according to reports from WSET-TV in Lynchburg.

Wendy Dawn Beadles Francis has been missing since June 2012. Law enforcement authorities have not found her or recovered a body, but according to Campbell County investigator Major L.T. Guthrie, there was enough evidence to suspect foul play and build a case, which led to the indictment of Wright.

Authorities have searched Wright's home in Brookneal on several occasions. In December, law enforcement arrived in a call for a domestic dispute to the home and an unnamed woman was med-flight to the hospital from the scene. He is currently being held in jail on a charge from the winter incident.

More information to follow on the case.
