Nathalie man killed in head-on collision with rig / September 13, 2021
A 40-year-old Nathalie man was killed in a Sept. 6 crash in Charlotte County after his vehicle collided head-on with a tractor-trailer.

Shann A. Hannock, 40, of Nathalie died at the scene after his 1995 Ford Mustang ran into the rig. He was not wearing a safety belt.

Virginia State Police Trooper D. Spencer is investigating the two-vehicle, which occurred Sept. 6 at 4:22 p.m. on Route 40, less than a mile east of Route 618.

Hannock was driving west on Route 40 when his Mustang crossed the centerline as it came through a curve. The vehicle entered the eastbound lane and struck head-on a tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer ran off the westbound side of the highway and struck the guardrail. The Mustang ran off the eastbound side of the highway.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Richard R. Stephenson, 25, of Charlotte Courthouse was not injured in the crash. He was wearing a safety belt.

The crash remains under investigation.
