Officer injured in wreck / September 27, 2010
A South Boston police officer suffered minor injuries and abrasions in a Friday morning accident which occurred at 9:13 a.m. at the intersection of Route 129 and State Route 9180.

Officer Freddie M. Edmunds, Sr. 43, of Halifax was injured while driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala belonging to the Town of South Boston. The vehicle was struck as Edmunds was stopped in the turning lane, waiting to turn into Route 9180.

The driver of a 2006 Freightliner Century Class tractor trailer, Paula A. Dedek, 53, of Carlyle, Pennsylvania, attempted to make a left turn onto 129, turned too quickly and struck the car driven by Edmunds. She was charged with improper turning by Virginia State Trooper P.W. Leath.

There was no damage to the Freightliner, but the Impala suffered an estimated $5,000 in damages.
