In other agenda items at tonight’s Halifax County Board of Supervisors meeting:

» Members will vote on final authorization of the county’s one percent sales tax, approved by voters in the Nov. 5 election.

» Public hearings will be held on cell phone tower approvals in the Oak Level and Red Bank/Virgilina areas. Supervisors will be asked to approve conditional use permits for the towers.

» Members will receive an update on progress with the courthouse renovations from Building Inspector Otis Vaughan.

» Supervisors will consider a resolution for the financing of the county’s 911 system update. The resolution calls for borrowing just shy of $3 million at 1.99 percent interest for the first seven years, with years 8-10 of the loan indexed to prevailing interest rates, minus 3 percent with a floor of 2 percent. Halifax County would have the option of repaying the loan early without incurring a penalty.

The December meeting of the board will begin at 6:30 p.m. tonight and be held in the Mary Bethune gymnasium.
