Pathways to a career

South Boston News

Celebrating February as Career and Technical Education Month, Halifax County Public Schools will host its annual CTE Showcase in the Halifax County High School gym on Thursday, from 10-11:30 a.m. The CTE Showcase features the 16 career clusters and pathways designated by the state Department of Education; in Halifax County, these are grouped into six areas of career study, including and culinary arts . “I took the Culinary Arts class because I wanted to learn how to cook my own meals,” says Jalen Chism. “I have learned how to hold a knife, cut properly, all about storage temperatures, and how to cook. It is an educational class, but we have fun too.”
