Petersburg man dies after being trapped under fallen trailer / April 18, 2018

A Petersburg man is dead after he was crushed Friday afternoon while working to move a storage shed.

Martin Orellana, 43, was moving a mobile storage shed at Slow Ed’s Amish Sheds in the 100 block of Arnold Drive, South Hill when he was trapped under a trailer being used to haul the unit.

South Hill Police Chief Stuart Bowen said three trucks and 11 firefighters from the South Hill Volunteer Fire Department offered lifesaving assistance, but Orellana died at the scene.

It is not known if Orellana worked for Slow Ed’s or was an independent contractor. Both the South Hill Police Department and federal Occupational and Safety Health Administration are investigating the accident.
