Pickup truck taken in Halifax, later found

On Monday, Nov. 19 at 5:41 p.m., a white Toyota Tundra pickup truck was reported stolen from the parking lot of Sunshine Mills in Halifax. The truck was unlocked with the keys inside at the time of the theft.

Police recovered the vehicle, registered to Robert S. Franklin of South Boston, at approximately 9:15 p.m. at Westside Village Apartments that same evening.

Three firearms were reported stolen from inside the pickup: a Glock 26 .45 caliber pistol, a CVA Optima 50 caliber black powder rifle, and a Remington 870 20 gauge shotgun.

The total value of the firearms is estimated around $1,100.

If you have any information regarding this theft, please contact the Town of Halifax Police Department at 476-2526 or the Halifax County Crime Line at 476-8445. A reward will be offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime.
