Police make a number of arrests this week

South Boston Police Cpl. M. W. Bowen arrested 54 year old Birnie Blanding Jr. of South Boston on Friday, May 30, charging him with the grand larceny theft of a motor vehicle, valued at more than $200. Blanding is being held without bond in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail. Bowen also arrested 19 year old Justin James Broxton of South Boston on Friday charging him with contributing to the delinquency of a minor on June 18, 2013. He was released on an unsecured $2,500 bond.

Also arrested on Friday by Officer T. W. Bush was 25 year old Blain Keyes of South Boston who was charged with assault and battery and held on a $1,000 unsecured bond.

On Saturday Officer Bush charged 20 year old Eric Mitchell Horton of Danville with a second offense of driving on a suspended license. Bowen also charged 27 year old Michael J. Johnson of Alton on Saturday with a second offense of driving on a suspended license.

Earlier in the week Officer T. D. Clay arrested 55 year old Floyd Wayne Roberson of Bracey with assault and battery of a family member and violating a protective order. He was being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail under a $2,500 unsecured bond.
