After a federal government shutdown reaching into its third week, Congress moved yesterday to end a budget impasse that prompted the closing of federal agencies in Southside Virginia and elsewhere. In Clarksville, visitors to Buggs Island Lake encountered closed-for-business signs, such as this one at the Longwood recreation area. Parks and boat ramps on the lake shut down late last week.
