Real estate, personal property tax payments due to treasurer by Dec. 6

The Halifax County Treasurer’s Office reminds residents that 2021 personal property taxes and the second installment of 2021 real estate taxes are due by Dec. 6.

Please mail payments early to ensure that it will be postmarked on or before Dec. 6 so they will not be penalized. If you desire a receipt, enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your payment.

Taxpayers may use major credit/debit cards to make payments online at http://www.msbpay.com/ MSBWEBPayments/? VA_HalifaxCounty_Treasurer.

Please enter bill numbers, category of tax, and telephone number when using online payment. Also, there will be a fee for any payments made using credit/debit cards. Online payments should also be recorded as of Dec. 6.

Payments via check or money order can be mailed to the Treasurer at P.O. Box 825, Halifax, VA 24558 OR they may be placed in the Treasurer’s drop box located at the Mary Bethune Office Complex, 1030 Cowford Road Halifax, VA 24558. Please do not put cash in the drop box as we cannot be responsible for lost or stolen cash. Our office is open to the public from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. if you would like to pay in person.

2022 Dog tags are now on sale. You need to provide current rabies vaccination certificate. The fee per dog tag is $10. Kennel tags are $50 for up to 20 dogs.
