Real estate tax payments due Wednesday
SoVaNow.com / June 03, 2013The first installment of 2013 Halifax County real estate taxes is due Wednesday, June 5, County Treasurer Linda Foster reminded county land owners this week.
The Treasurer’s Office will accept mailed payments with postmarks of June 5 without imposing further charges on the first installment, or on any payments that may be paid in full. A 10 percent penalty and a 10 percent per annum interest will be charged on any unpaid first installment after June 5.
The second installment coupon will be due on Dec. 5. No bills will be mailed out on the second installment.
Foster asked that real estate owners mail their checks or money orders with payment coupon to the Halifax County Treasurer, P.O. Box 825, Halifax, VA 24558.
Payments can be made in person at the County Treasurer’s Office at 1030 Cowford Road, Mary Bethune Office Complex, Halifax between 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Also, taxpayers can make payments using most major credit/debit cards for a nominal fee on line at WebFeePay.com. Please enter bill numbers, category of tax, and phone number when using online payment, Foster said.
