Rec center closed for repairs

South Boston News

The South Boston Recreation Center on Jeffress Boulevard — the old armory building — will be closed until further notice while repairs take place to the windows of the building. Recreation Director Matthew McCargo Jr. announced the closing on Friday, after the recreation center was shuttered the week of March 25-30 for window replacements. “Construction work has gone beyond the expected finish date and we are unable at this time to pinpoint the exact date of finish,” said McCargo. He said the town would announce when the building is open again and thanked patrons for their patience while the improvements proceed. The Recreation Department also operates programs out of the Washington Coleman Community Center, a short distance up the street on Jeffress Boulevard.
