Scottsburg house fire ruled arson
SoVaNow.com / August 15, 2013On July 28, at 2:00 a.m. multiple fire and rescue personnel responded to a report of a structure fire at 6075 James D. Hagood Highway in Scottsburg. Firefighters from Halifax, Scottsburg,and South Boston Fire Departments responded to the blaze at the unoccupied residence.
Emergency personnel were able to bring the fire under control within several minutes but remained on-scene for almost three hours.
Fire investigators with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and Halifax County Emergency Services completed an investigation into the cause of the fire. The investigation has revealed the fire is a result of arson and other causes have been ruled out. The fire is believed to have been intentionally started on the main floor in the living area. The investigation is on-going.
A reward is being offered to anyone that can provide specific information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s) that are responsible. The Halifax County Crime Hot Line number is (434) 476-8445. Persons with information can report tips anonymously.
