Scottsburg man charged after rash of break-ins / May 20, 2019
A Scottsburg man has been arrested in connection with a spate of break-ins in the Scottsburg, Mt. Laurel and Clover areas after tips from citizens helped investigators uncover his alleged involvement in the crimes, said Halifax County Sheriff Fred Clark.

The Sheriff’s Office arrested Christopher Anderson, 40, of Green Level Road in Scottsburg following an investigation of recent break-ins of stores, businesses and residences in the Clover-Scottsburg area. After Anderson was arrested, investigators executed a search warrant at his Green Level Road home and found numerous stolen items, including firearms, power tools, hand tools and merchandise as well as suspected narcotics, drug paraphernalia and burglary tools.

The Sheriff’s Office is “sorting through an overwhelming amount of evidence” that was seized during the May 16 search, said Clark in a statement announcing the arrest.

Anderson has been charged with possession of stolen goods, obtaining money by false pretenses and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. As the investigation continues, Anderson will be facing multiple other charges in connection with the break-ins, said Clark.

Anderson is currently being held at Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Halifax without bond.
