Joe Belt Allred, Jr., 47, was arrested this week and charged with three counts of distributing drugs, according to Halifax County Sheriff Fred Clark.

The Scottsburg man was arrested on two counts of distributing a Schedule III substance and one count of distributing a Schedule IV substance.

He was taken into custody Thursday on the charges, following a traffic stop by Sheriff’s Deputy T.H. Clarke.

The charges stem from an ongoing investigation by the Halifax Regional Narcotics and Gang Task Force. Allred is being held at the Halifax Adult Detention Center under an $8,000 secured bond. More charges are pending.
