The crash scene on Route 360 on Monday night / February 26, 2020
A Scottsburg woman died Monday night after her vehicle was struck by a pickup truck as she was pulling out of her driveway onto Route 360 (James D. Hagood Highway) near Bethel Road.

Carrie A. Williams was the operator of a 2018 Ford Fusion that was crushed by a 2000 Nissan Frontier pickup truck traveling west on the four-lane highway. Her sedan was hit in the side by the incoming vehicle around 7:45 p.m., about half a mile from Bethel Road.

Williams, 69, was rushed to Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital where she died that night from her injuries. She had been wearing her seatbelt.

The identity of the other driver involved in the crash has not been released. Senior Trooper L.V. Pambid responded to the scene and the investigation is continuing.

Both vehicles were totaled in the collision, which hurled Williams’ Fusion into the highway median. Traffic heading westbound on Route 360 was briefly shut off Monday night while crews worked to clear away the wreckage.

This story will be updated.
