Secretary of Commerce deputy tours SVHEC

Mary Rae Carter, deputy Secretary of Commerce and Trade for Rural Economic Development, on left, recently toured the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) and met with SVHEC officials. Carter serves as the secretary of commerce and trade's senior liaison to rural parts of the Commonwealth, and assists in the development, communication and implementation of policies and strategies for rural economic development and job creation. Carter will be the keynote speaker at the SVHEC’s inaugural Workforce Forward 2011 Forum on Sept. 23 at the Prizery.
