Seven options, for either four or five elementaries

SoVaNow.com / September 13, 2018

Stephen Halsey with Moseley Architects, the firm that has developed plans for renovating or rebuilding HCHS, unveiled seven different options for consolidating Halifax County’s five smallest elementaries — shrinking them into either two or three schools and closing the rest. The revamped schools would operate alongside South Boston and Cluster Springs, giving Halifax County either four or five elementary school buildings in the future.
The options presented by Halsey at the Monday night meeting of the School Board consist of the following:

Option 1:
Build a new, 700-student Meadville Elementary and leave Scottsburg Elementary as-is.
Construction cost: $31,914,589
