Sisters to bring Junie B. Jones to life for HCLT / November 15, 2021
Halifax County Little Theatre is so happy to announce that we will be holding auditions for a winter show at The Prizery, “Junie B Jones The Musical, Jr.,” our first show in that building since the Pandemic closed up live performances there. And what a happy show it will be.

The Prizery was just a few weeks away from opening the happy show when Covid shut it down, and they had to stop the production’s rehearsals.

HCLT will be picking up the show for all those who were looking forward to being in it or coming to see it, with The Prizery’s blessings.

The sister duo of Elisabeth Brogden and Sarah Brogden are co-directing the high energy comic musical, with Josh Glasscock as musical director and Deion Muse as choreographer.

The Brogden sisters were active both in HCHS and HCLT theatre performances during their school years, and then both also participated in the Averett University Theatre Department.

Elisabeth is on the HCLT board of directors and has continued performing here while teaching in Danville, and Sarah was a theatre major at Averett, graduating last May.

She currently teaches at Halifax County Middle School and has started a theatre club after school.

Join Junie B on Day One of first grade, where many changes are in store: Junie B’s best friend Lucille has found new best friends, and Junie B must make new ones too, one of whom is Herb, the new kid at school. Junie B also discovers that she might need to wear glasses. Add in a friendly cafeteria lady, an intense kickball tournament, and a “top Secret Personal Beeswax Journal,” and first grade has never been more exciting.

Auditions will be held at The Prizery on Sunday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. and on Monday, Nov. 22, at 6:30 p.m., with possible callbacks on Tuesday evening. Those wishing to audition should have a 16-measure song of their choice prepared to sing to show off their abilities.

Participants should be at least eight years old through high school age. It’s a fun show that should make people happy, and that is what HCLT wants: happiness on stage again

Come join us, or come sign up to be a part of the back stage crew; there are always plenty of jobs that need doing with a high energy musical. HCLT looks forward to sharing this fun experience with everyone.
